Stephen Braggs
The Stephen Braggs Youth Foundation (SBYF) was founded in 2010 to guide young athletes in the greater Austin area, helping them build a path toward professional sports through structured training, mentorship, and development programs. What started with fewer than 100 youth quickly grew into a thriving community of over 1,600 active participants annually.
Stephen Braggs, a former NFL player with over seven years in the league, has dedicated his life to mentoring young people—especially those without stable family support. Some faced homelessness, others were on the verge of making life-altering decisions, but Stephen didn't just mentor from a distance—he opened his home to those who needed stability and a fresh start.
Through years of mentorship, Stephen witnessed a deeper issue: too many young people age out of foster care or unstable situations with nowhere to turn. Without guidance, they struggle to find housing, secure jobs, and build the skills needed for independence—often leading to homelessness, incarceration, or financial instability.
That's why SBYF is evolving. We are pivoting from youth sports development to providing housing support, career training, and mentorship for transition-age youth and young adults in need. Our mission is clear:
With the right resources, young adults don’t just survive—they thrive.

This next chapter of SBYF is about action, impact, and community support. With your help, we can provide stability, opportunity, and a future beyond survival for vulnerable youth. Your donation, sponsorship, or partnership can help us expand our reach and ensure that no young person has to face the future alone.
Turning 18 should be a milestone of new opportunities—but for many foster youth, it marks the start of a daunting journey. No family to turn to. No stable place to sleep. No idea where the next meal will come from.
Across Central Texas, 4,000 children and youth are in foster care, and many will eventually face this harsh reality. In Austin alone, 150 to 200 foster youth age out of the system each year, often left without stable housing, financial security, or the support needed to navigate adulthood.
At SBYF, we refuse to let these young people face the future alone. We bridge the gap between foster care and independence, providing safe housing, financial literacy, career training, and mentorship to help them break cycles of instability and build a future beyond survival.
No young person should have to navigate life without a support system. Together, we can provide the resources they need to not just survive—but thrive.
Our mission is to help foster youth and young adults build stable, independent futures by providing the housing, skills, and support they need to transition successfully into adulthood. We do this by:
